The Pediatric Paracorporeal and Extracorporeal Therapies (PPETS) conference is a multidisciplinary educational activity focused on advancing care for children requiring ECMO, CRRT, and related therapies. It addresses practice variation, emerging technologies, and evidence gaps through expert-led sessions, case discussions, and simulation-based training. Emphasis is placed on team-based care, data integration, and improving short- and long-term patient outcomes through collaboration and standardization.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Describe the current landscape, indications, and challenges in pediatric extracorporeal therapies, including ECMO and CRRT.
  2. Apply evidence-informed and consensus-based approaches to the initiation, management, and discontinuation of extracorporeal support.
  3. Evaluate practice variability and its impact on patient outcomes to inform more standardized care processes.
  4. Integrate emerging technologies, data-driven tools, and simulation-based learning into clinical practice to improve performance and safety.
  5. Implement strategies aimed at improving patient-centered outcomes, including reduction of complications and optimization of short- and long-term recovery.
  6. Develop future avenues for research in the field of pediatric extracorporeal therapies.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Nurses will report a >75% increased confidence in interdisciplinary communication and intent to apply standardized care processes in clinical practice based on post-activity evaluation.
