Overview
The Pediatric Paracorporeal and Extracorporeal Therapies Summit (PPETS) has successfully established a global collaborative platform to improve outcomes for critically ill children requiring extracorporeal organ support. Building on this momentum, there is an urgent need to integrate insights across the continuum of maternal, fetal, neonatal, and pediatric populations. Critically ill neonates and children, particularly those requiring extracorporeal therapies (ECMO, CRRT, CARPEDIEM, liver support, and hybrid modalities), remain at high risk for adverse short- and long-term outcomes. The rapid evolution of technologies, coupled with gaps in evidence and implementation science, underscores the need for targeted dialogue among international experts.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe current approaches to diagnosing and managing AKI in pregnancy
  2. Compare dialysis modalities available to neonates and apply evidence based strategies to optimize outcomes
  3. evaluate the long-term functional, neurodevelopmental, and quality of life outcomes in survivors of extracorporeal therapies
  4. Design pragmatic studies which incorporate biomarker guided management strategies into critical care nephrology practice
  5. Integrate EHR-base risk stratification and decision support in the care of patients requiring extracorporeal therapies
  6. Identify and prioritize multicenter research initiatives including platform trials, to advance care in the maternal-fetal-neonatal and pediatric critical care nephrolopgy
